Friday's Community Circle was a sea of pink and a room filled with love. It was Valentines day and this month’s design principle is “Empathy and Caring”.
Community Circle began with the song "Count on me" by Bruno Mars. This song is often performed at Community circle because we love friendships and we love Bruno Mars. You can watch the video
HERE
5th grade student Michael Painter said of Empathy and Caring:
“If we take the time to learn more about each other we’ll begin to like each other and care more about each other”

And now I “Mustache” you a question.
Would you rise out of bed early to go to school and participate in a milk mustache contest? These Vikings did and their photos gave us some good laughs at Community Circle. You can view all the mustaches
HERE.
The winners are shown below.
Special thanks to our head cook Jamie Abshire for always providing fun activities like this for the students. We love our cooks!
Our 5th graders have been studying how they can make a positive change in the world. They went on an expedition to the Leonardo museum and were able to do field work on the Human rights exhibit about the "Green Revolution." They went to Utah’s Holge Zoo to study the structure of animals. They are also studying American History and how our Founding Fathers made positive change for our Country. They performed the song “1776” which you can view
HERE. There will be a celebration on February 20th where the 5th grade will present more information about their expedition.
Of course no Community Circle is complete without a dance party. Today the whole school performed the Macarena. It was AWESOME. You can view the dance party

Community Circle ended with a song about Empathy and Caring sung to the tune of Dynamite. Empathy and Caring is nothing new to Voyage Vikings. Our halls are filled with love and kindness to everyone. One mom said she had been having t a rough morning, after spending the day at Voyage (helping with the Valentines party and eating lunch in the lunch room) she came away feeling happy and uplifted. That’s the way many people feel when visiting our school. Maybe it’s the dance parties during Community Circle, or the smiling faces of all the students and staff. Whatever the reason Voyage is truly a place of love and caring!
We would like to thank our amazing 5th graders for all their hard work to plan and carry out such a wonderful and fun Community Circle!
5th Grade Celebration of Learning
Our 5th Graders invited everyone out to learn about the different animals they've been studying. Each student was in charge of creating a display and teaching about a particular animal. Here are some photos from the evening.
