Closing Community Circle

Today Vikings hosted their final Community Circle for the school year. Each grade did a short presentation to sum up what they had learned for the year. It was a morning of tears and happiness. Viking students have learned and grown so much this year and we are so proud of all of them! They did amazing on their state testing, grown in confidence and have formed many friendships with one another. Students put together a time capsule to be opened in the year 2020 when our Kindergartners graduate sixth grade.
Here is a summary of the 2013-2014 school year.

With our effort strong we will try the whole day long
To strive for excellence every day.
We will do our best as we journey on our quest,
We will work as a team along the way.
We are glad to be with our Viking family
Here at Voyage Academy.

Community Circle closed with an important message from Principal Phillips.
She wanted all Vikings to know.....
That she loves every one of them!

Mrs. Coleman put together a video to summarize the whole year at Voyage Academy.
You can view it HERE
It's been an AMAZING first year at Voyage Academy! Sure we made mistakes that we learned from and will be better at next year, but over all we couldn't have had a better first year. The culture of Voyage Academy was established this year and every member of Voyage is family! We know we can count on each other, because that's what friends are suppose to do, oh yeah.

Have a fun summer Vikings!
Be safe, stay smart and we'll see you in the Fall!

Viking K

Vikings trained for a month to prepare for the Viking K. Parents gathered at the local park to watch as students ran the 1K. Vikings did a great job! We're so proud of them and all their hard work in preparing for the race today.
Tomorrow will be the Viking sprint, where the fastest runners will compete in the 50 yard dash. Good luck Vikings!

BIG thank you to Ms. Mills for all she does to keep Voyage Vikings healthy and active!

Kindergarten Community Circle

The most ADORABLE Community Circle was held by our youngest Vikings. The Kindergartners! Yes, even our Kindergartners have an opportunity to teach the school.

This month's design Principle is "Success and Failure" Mrs. Bradshaw shared the story of  Derek Redmond who had been training for the 1992 Olympic games since he was 7 years old. He was going to win. Close to the finish of the race Derek's hamstring ripped and he fell to his knees in pain, determined to finish the race he continued on to the finish line. A man came running down form the stands, it was his dad. He was there to help Derek finish the race. See the video HERE

Success and Failure awards were given to
Ms. Dixon "The Story Lady"

 Ms. Stacee and Ms. Nichols

The Kindergarten Expedition was "Bees with a buzz"
Our Kindergartners are now Bee experts.
They can tell you almost anything there is to know about the honey bee.
