2nd grade Community Circle

Today our 2nd grade hosted Community Circle

The design principle for March is "The having of wonderful ideas"
2nd graders discussed a few wonderful ideas, including the ideaof  creating Voyage Academy, holding Community Circles, making a no bullying school and a special surprise that was reveled at the end of Community Circle.

Awards were given to
Cole Jacobs
For always having creative ideas
&
The Coloring contest winners.
For having creative ideas about
"What  breakfast will look like in the year 3014".

Our Lunch Crew surprised us when they walked out dressed as robots since most the kids drew robots serving breakfast in the year 3014.
We have the BEST lunch staff!
They're are always doing something fun for the kids.

The Cheer Crew performed Viking Cheers and we had a special performance by our 2nd grade Cheer Crew which you can view HERE.

The 2nd graders are working on their Economics Expedition right now.
They were able to tour local business such as Lowes, America First, Pizza Pie Cafe and many others to  learn what makes a good business and what type of products are best to sale. Needs or wants. They also got to tour Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolate Factory. Yum!

2nd grade has decided to open an after school store. The money made from the store will go towards buying a Buddy Bench for the play ground. This bench will be for children who do not have a friend to play with. The child can sit on the bench and other kids will know that they need a friend and invite the child to come play with them.
This is  a WONDERFUL idea!
GO 2ND GRADE!!!

Iditarod reading race

March 10-21st Vikings competed in the Iditarod dog sled reading race. Our Librarian, Mrs. Fairbourn, challenged the students to read and record the number of minutes read each week and report them to her. She recorded the minutes on a large dog sled chart outside the library. On March 26th a special assembly was held to announce the winners.Awards were given to students, from each class, that had read the most minutes from their class. The winning students were then invited to attend a party in the library to watch a movie and eat snacks.

We're proud of our Vikings for all the reading they did over the two week period!

6th Grade just finished up an expedition on Ancient Civilizations. Back in February they had a Celebration of learning with a Midevil dinner and displayed projects they had been working on.

Students had to use their hands. There was no utensils in the Midevil times. :)

We have AMAZING 6th graders!
They show confidence, compassion and are eager to learn.  They will bring great strengths to the Jr. Highs they'll be attending next year. We will miss them greatly at Voyage Academy.

We're proud of you 6th grade! Keep up the great work!

Happy Principal day!

Today we'd like to give a shout out to our WONDERFUL, AMAZING, CARING, LOVING, HARD WORKING, Principal Phillips!

Thanks for all the hours and dedication you  give in making Voyage Academy a wonderful place to be! We love you!

Vikings crept into Principal Phillips office while she was out and decorated with balloons and gifts.

Boy was she surprised when she returned! :)

Comments made about Principal Phillips
Principal Phillips is absolutely the best! Her leadership, love, genuine care and concern for each student has beyond exceeded my expectations! So glad to be a part of the voyage academy family!

She is awesome! She was so kind to the boys and I when Tyler was in the hospital a few years ago.

Principal Phillips is one of the most amazing gals I've ever known and I feel sooo lucky having her as the Principal of my sons school.

Best boss ever BBE!!!!

Definitely deserved!!! Love Mrs. Phillip

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
